Valentine Tinchant

Valentine Tinchant’s collection is inspired by the way the Ethiopian Daasanach tribe makes their accessories from trash, and by the non-traditional materials and unique linking techniques Paco Rabanne used in the 60s. Her main material is ‘resinovo’, an innovative eco-conscious material that consists for 95% of recycled resin from car windshields saved from landfills, where they would have taken approximately a million years to decompose. The 15.000 metal rings she used are recyclable too, she used a (almost) zero-waste pattern cutting technique and all pieces are handmade without electricity or any machinery.

Resinovo however is not circular so Valentine decided to give her collection extra purpose; next to wearable garments they can also be displayed as works of art. For the prints she collaged old ripped magazines, found cigarette packaging, scanned flowers and constructed images of babies with guns and phones. “For me this very much reflects today’s society.”
