Pauline de Blonay

As a starting point for her graduation project Pauline de Blonay made an exploration of her own identity and the ‘feminine masculinity’, or ‘masculine femininity’, she tends to feel comfortable with. “I wanted to create a duel between masculine and feminine images and merge them together. A suit and a cast of my breast in metal, feathers locked in metal, dresses that you can mould which look powerful and strong but which are fragile at the same time because you can change their shape.” Pauline made many self-portraits and portraits of people that surround her, and based the colours and shapes of her collection largely on these drawings. “My idea was that I was extending myself onto other people’s bodies by giving them casted parts of my body in metal, and all these drawings of people that are important for me are represented too. STILL YOU is like a rendez-vous of the people that I care about.”
